The 2019 Rotary District 7010 Conference came right into the Rotary Club of North Muskoka's backyard when it arrived at Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville ... so club members made their way to the three-day event to learn the latest about Rotary, hear inspirational and thought-provoking stories from keynote speakers, hear about Rotary projects at home and abroad, and reconnect with friends from across the district at fellowship events, including the Poutine, Pints and Plaid dinner on Saturday night.

One speaker came from Guatemala to share her story of how Rotary investment in computer equipment helped shape her future and the future of her students, while others talked about how opportunities with Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and Rotary Peace Fellowships helped them become leaders in both local and global quests for peace and understanding.

We also heard from Waubgeshig Rice, an Anishinaabe writer and journalist, about his experience as a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Germany.

Rotarians also participated in breakout sessions and hands-on service projects, including assembling kits for area women in need.

And there were a number of social activities, including hub crawls and dinner-dances. We made some new friends, too!
